About Me

“The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.

And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

- Steve Jobs

“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.”

— Jonathan Swift

Karen Mathison is an editorial and commercial photographer, based in Blackburn, Lancashire— but I love to take an opportunity to travel!

Whilst encompassing the clients brief, I embrace an innovative and creative approach.  I believe photography should connect emotionally with its audience.  Therefore in my photography I strive to combine form, structure and composition with an understanding of marketing and branding sensibilities.

There is no better satisfaction than having someone appreciate your photography. This has always driven me to produce images that excel every time, striving to exceed my potential both creatively and technically, this has allowed me to organically evolve as a photographer.

When I'm not taking photos, you'll find me spending time with my family, friends and animals.

My work focuses on capturing a moment in time, whether it's portraiture, lifestyle imagery, or just the perfect light.

With over 27 years experience of providing excellent Project Management and Customer Service, I deal with challenging situations professionally whilst doing what I truly love, photography.

My broad portfolio is focussed on my Commercial and Editorial Photography but encompasses numerous photographic genres including Portraits, Architecture, Events, Weddings, and Product Shots.

My clients include Nigel Howarth - Ribble Valley Inns, Co-op Foods UK, British Homing World, National Lottery Good Causes,  Wickes,  Refinery Media Group, Boomerang Media,  BAe Systems, Dulux Paints, Mrs Dowsons Ice Cream, Key Agent Property, Neales Waste, Miss Transgender UK, Bashall Barn  and MacDonald Hotels.

I have had work published with Woman & Home Magazine, Cat Magazine, British Homing World, Brides up North Magazine and many more.

I am currently working on a number of self initiated projects; Exmoor, LGBT, Locorum Columbae Offeret, and Life Sentence.
